• Cockroaches, Rats and the Sluice
  Whatever else is contained in the memories of the nurses interviewed for Nurses’ Voices, at some point in many of them there is reference to flooding the sluice, cleaning out sputum mugs and even occasionally cockroaches and rats.
• Nurses Uniforms
  All nurses, and many members of the general public, hold strong views about nurses' uniform. Love it or loath it, it features to some extent in every interview.
• Mother came too!
  Memories of the interview at which their mother was also interviewed to ensure that the prospective nurse was "from the right sort of family".
• Healing Memories
  Moments in their nursing lives when the nurses recall particular aspects of healing.
